It is evident in our local community that women`s rights are being violated. For example, women are being discriminated against when it comes to employment, their rights pertaining to work relations are neglected (such as, for example, maternity leave), violence against women is visible every day etc. In general, there are direct and indirect forms of discrimination against women. Due to societal apathy and other reasons, there is not enough awareness among themselves about their rights and options available for realization of those rights. Educational, professional and societal engagement of women in preventing and treating these issues is not satisfactory. For those reasons and in order to empower women, IMPULS was created.

Often, due to financial difficulties women are not capable to pursue their rights, even when they are acquainted with them, they simply come to terms with discrimination and violation of their rights, which eventually leads to general societal acceptance of these kinds of gender-related issues as „normal“. On the other hand, asking a psychologist for an advice or help is colored with stigma and made difficult by procedures. IMPULS chose to focus on these two areas as priority and provide women with free of charge legal and psychological support.

IMPULS was registered on 4th of January 2012. through an initiative of young experts with degrees in law and various helping professions (psychology, social work, pedagogy…)

Thanks to support from Center for social work Bugojno, IMPULS is now able to provide its services in office space of their facilities.
